Growing Fuji Apples
This apple tree can thrive in a wide range of soil types but prefers well-drained soil. Plant the tree in full sunlight. Be sure to water well the first year of planting to establish a strong root system. This plant is exceptionally pest and disease resistant but once it starts producing fruit a slow release fertilizer will help. Fuji trees are especially resistant to apple scab.
The Fuji Apple Tree growth rate is moderately fast; growing 12-24 inches per year as young trees. A full size tree can reach up to 20 feet tall at maturity and 10-15 feet wide branch span. Grows best in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9.
This is not a semi dwarf size apple tree. In full sun it can grow to be a very tall fruit tree. It will start producing apples at a very early age which is one of the reasons why it’s our favorite apple variety for home grown fruit. Enjoy the crisp sweet taste in no time.
