Wax Begonia Red (Begonia Semperflorens) are wonderful for mass plantings, bedding and will bloom all summer long. They are also great for containers and hanging baskets.
Resistant to heat and drought, begonias will flourish in shaded areas where few other plants will bloom.
Wax Begonia works well in fertile, well-drained soil, rich in humus, neutral to slightly acid, partly shaded or well-lit, but out of direct sunlight.
Begonias are very low maintenance and easy to grow from seeds.

Start begonia seed indoors 10 - 12 weeks before the last frost. Press seeds into a sterile potting mixture; do not cover the seeds. Place the tray in bright light, but not full sun. Keep the soil moist, but not wet - cover the planting tray with plastic wrap to help maintain continuous moisture. Optimal temperature for germination 66 - 77F. Water from underneath to avoid fungus.
