Sow Catnip Indoors

Start Nepeta seeds indoors near a sunny window 6-8 weeks before transplanting outside, after the danger of frost has passed.
Soak catnip seed in water overnight prior to sowing.
Sow seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and lightly cover, no more than 1/8 inches deep with loose soil.
Keep the temperature at 60-70°F during gemination. Ideal temperature for germination is 70-80°F (21-27°C).
On average, germination occurs in 10-20 days, but it can take longer up to 40 days depending on temperature.

Sow Catnip Outdoors

Sow the Catnip herb seeds directly into prepared seed beds, when the danger of frost has passed and the soil is warm. Sow on the soil surface or barely covered with perlite. Seeds should sprout in 10-20 days at 70-80°F. Thin plants or transplant 12"(30cm) apart. Keep seedlings well protected from cats. Usual seed life: 5 years.

Keep plants full by pinching the growing stems and flower buds when they appear. Harvest leaves by cutting the stems anytime during the growing season. The foliage keeps its scent best when air dried.

Stratified the seeds in the freezer and soaked overnight as indicated. I have them under a little grow light to encourage growth, planted 3 packets of the seeds (loosely covered with plastic wrap for the first few days) and they are already nicely sprouted! I'm really pleased with this product.

About 95% of them came up great and very easy to grow. Follow the directions but one thing to help make sure they come up after you soak and refrigerator as directed and then plant in your pot use a spray bottle to mist the top soil then take plastic wrap and wrap the top of the pot to keep humidity in. Keeps them moist and humid. With in a few days to a week they will be up. Unwrap and watch grow.

The seeds grew quite easily and didn't take too long, and my cat enjoyed the cat nip.
